All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** Nancy Elizabeth Manes Funeral Services for Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Manes, 88, were held in the First Baptist Church of Celina, Texas Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev. W. J. Epting of Sherman, Texas former pastor of the church and Rev. Travis Holland, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in Cottage Hill Cemetery with Helms Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Donald Jack Manes of Celina, Texas, Kenneth Manes of Seminole, Oklahoma, Grady Rey Woods of Pacific Grove, California, Billy Jo Woods of Princeton, Texas, Henry Wright of Houston, Texas, and Eldon Manes of Wichita Falls, Texas. Mrs. Manes died June 12th in a Waxahachie hospital. A resident of Celina, Texas, she had been living form some time at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Grady Woods of Waxahachie. A heart attack was given as the cause of her death. Mrs. Manes was born January 16, 1869 in Tennessee, a daughter of W. S. and Josephine Wester. She came to Texas with her father in 1887, settling near Blossom Community where she married James Monroe Manes September 9, 1889. They lived there two years then moved to the Celina, Texas area. They lived west of Celina for a time and then moved to a farm in Bethel Community northwest of Celina. Mr. Manes died in 1935. Mrs. Manes was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celina. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Sam Wright of Tracy, California, Mrs. David Buchanan of El Centro, California and Mrs. Grady Woods of Waxahachie, Texas; four sons, J. D. Manes of Celina, Texas, Harrison Manes of Tyler, Texas, Nolan Manes of Riverside, California and Edgar Manes of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Douglas of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. George Tillerson of Tioga, Texas; one brother, Lon Wester of Celina, Texas; three half brothers, Ben and Paul Wester of Celina, Texas and Hershal Wester of Colorado; 34 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.
