All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************** ~McKINNEY GAZETTE-October 1923~ ""Octogenarian Is Claimed By Death On Tuesday Night" -Mrs. Elizabeth McMahan Is Called To Her Reward- At the ripe old age of eighty years, eleven months, and one day, Mrs. Elizabeth McMahan, died at 11: 40 o'clock Tuesday night at the family home on North Oak Street in the northern edge of this city. She had been ill for several weeks. She was a native of Tennessee, but had been a resident of Texas and Collin County for many years. Her husband, Joseph Manning McMahan preceded her to the grave some 26 years ago. Mrs. McMahan is survived by six children, 3 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom are residents of McKinney, Texas. The sons are: William J. McMahan,Joseph Aubra McMahan & Clyde McMahan. Daughters are: Mrs. G.L (Hattie) Shields; Mrs. Charles ( Mary Laurita) Moore, and Mrs. C.F. (Annie Eliza) Scott. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the North McKinney Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. R. L. LeFevre assisted by the Rev. G.O. Key. The burial will follow in Pecan Grove Cemetery. Mrs. McMahan had been a member of the Baptist Church since childhood. She was a devoted Christian. She was loved by all who knew her and her presence in North McKinney will be greatly missed. The family has many friends who sincerely regret to hear of the death of this good woman. The Courier-Gazette and Weekly Democrat -Gazette joins these friends in sympathy for the bereaved.
