McMahan- Confederate Veteran in 91st. Year" One of the oldest residents of Collin County, Malcolm .C. McMahan, 90 years, 4 months, and 7 days old, died at 3:30 o'clock this Monday morning at his residence on Short Street in McKinney after several years of blindness and decrepitude incident to advanced age. Funeral services were held at 4 o'clock this afternoon by Rev. E.B. Jackson and Elder R.C. Horn at the White's Grove Methodist Church, four miles southwest of McKinney, of which Church the deceased was a Charter Member. Interment followed in Pecan Grove Cemetery with the Sam J. Massie and Son Funeral Home in charge. Active Pallbearers were: P.R. Westmoreland, John H. Hollomon, A.W. Milstead, J.A. McMahan, Vernon Williams and W.E. Williams. Confederate Soldier: The deceased was born March 18, 1842 in Giles County Tennessee, where he was reared and where he entered the Confederate service. Soon after the War he came to Texas and engaged in farming. He was first married at Weston, this county, but his wife only lived a very short time thereafter. A second marriage was to Miss Annie Lovejoy, daughter of George W. Lovejoy and sister of the late John L. Lovejoy, Presiden of the First National Bank when he died a few years ago. They had no children, but they reared several orphans, among them being Mrs. Edna E. Nale, whose address is now 1030 Kings Highway, Dallas, Tx. His wife, Ann Lovejoy McMahan died March 6, 1926. About 4 or 5 years afterwards he remarried Miss Eva Holloman, wo survives. He was an upright , honorable citizen who had been a member of the Methodist Church since young manhood. He was held in high esteem by his neighbors who respected him for his worthy life and good citizenship. He had been blind for the past eight years. In recent years he made his home in McKinney, but most of his active life was spent in the White's Grove Community. He is survived by one brother, Henderson McCammish McMahan, now of El Paso, Tx. but who formerly lived many years in the White's Grove Community. My Note~Malcolm C.
