Mrs. Elizabeth Green Estes McMahan, 62, wife of Henderson McMahan, died in El Paso, Texas at the Masonic Hospital at 7 p.m. , February 16, 1932. She submitted to a serious surgical operation a few days before, from which she did not rally. Mrs. McMahan was born in Collin County, 62 years ago , in the White's Grove Community about five miles southwest of McKinney. She was the daughter and youngest child of nine children of George W. & Eliza Jane Estes, pioneer settlers of this section. She was twice married, her first husband being Lester Payne of Dallas Tx. One child of this union, Mrs. J. A. McRae of Alamagola, New Mexico, survives. The deceased last marriage was to Henderson McMahan. To this union 5 children were born, all living and as follows: Thomas Carlton McMahan of St. Louis, Mo.; Liles Dewitt McMahan of El Paso, Tx.; Theodore Roosevelt "Ted" McMahan of El Paso, Tx.; Lloyd Bowie McMahan also of El Paso, Tx. ; John Gibson McMahan, a successful farmer of the Rowlett Community, west of Allen, Tx. and a daughter, Miss Pauline Elizabeth McMahan of Fort Worth, Tx. Mrs. McMahan has 2 sisters: Mrs. T.B. Wilson 502 North Kentucky Street in McKinney, Tx. and Mr. Eliza White of Fort Worth, Tx. Mrs. Wilson and her son, Add G. Wilson, former City Commissioner, left Wednesday afternoon for El Paso to attend the funeral and burial., which will take place in that city. Mrs. McMahan's son, John Gibson McMahan, left Tuesday for his mothers bedside, but did not reach there before she passed away. The deceased and her husband lived for close on to 40 years on the old Estes homestead west of McKinney. Their children were all born and grew up and went out into the world to earn their own way from this parental roof. Mr. & Mrs. McMahan moved to El Paso about 2 years ago. They spent 3 months in Collin County last summer. During all the years of their long residence near White's Grove, these two good people were active in Church , school, social and every other line of work for the promtion of the best interest of the community. Mrr. McMahan was a steward and leader in the Methodist Church while Mrs. McMahan was the musician for the church, Sunday school and every other gathering. Mrs. McMahan was a gifted musician , in her student days she studied under some of the best teachers in Dallas, and was awarded a medal in profincy. KMN-12 Dec. 2002
