McKinney Courier, June 28, 1949
Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Rossetter, native of Louisiana, and resident of Collin 
County for 77 years, passed away recently at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Will 
Walker, at Murphy, after a week's illness.  Her funeral services were held at 
the Murphy Methodist church with Rev. Luther Greer of Sanger in charge.  
Burial was made in the Murphy Cemetery.  She was a member of the Presbyterian 
Church.
 Mrs. Rossetter, who was born June 17, 1865, was a daughter of the late Mr. 
and Mrs. A. F. Ward. She married J. T. Rossetter on December 23, 1880, and to 
them were born 10 children, six of whom survive:  Mrs. Will Walker, of Murphy; 
Mrs. Ruth Miller of Dallas; Mrs. Will Barbee of Montague, Mrs. Ima Strain of 
Dallas; Mrs. Ed Funderburgh of Plano and Mrs. Bob Bishop of Corpus Christie.  
One sister, grandchildren also survive.  Besides her husband and parents, four 
children preceded her in death.
