All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** John Franklin Wester John Franklin Wester died Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. W. Thomason of the Franklin Community at the age of 89 years 9 months and 23 days after illness of two years. He was born October 1, 1854 in Westerville, Tennessee and came to Texas in 1892 and had since lived in this community, his home being located near the Cottage Hill Church and school. Mr. Wester had been married twice. The first time was to Miss Martha Alice Davis in 1880 and to Mrs. Sally Johnson Cooper in 1891. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge, his membership as a mason dating back to 1877. Surviving children are Mrs. J. T. Darnall and John Wester of Celina, Texas, Mrs. W. W. Thomason and Ed Wester of McKinney, Texas and Mrs. Lena Gladden of Denton, Texas. Other survivors are 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Preceeding Mr. Wester to the grave were both wives, two sons and two daughters. The services over the body were conducted at Cottage Hill Church at 4 p.m. Sunday with burial in Cottage Hill Cemeter with Helms Funeral Home in charge. Officiating ministers were Rev. J. H. Kirby, pastor of the Cottage Hill Church, Rev. W. J. Epting pastor of First Baptist Church in Celina, Texas and Rev. Clarence Bounds, pastor of the Royse City Methodist Church. Mr. Wester’s grandsons served as pallbearers. (The Celina Record, Texas, July 27, 1944)
