(Bud) Helms passed away suddenly Monday evening athis home, located near Celina, Texas. Funeral arrangements are pending. (McKinney Daily Courier Gazette - June 3, 1952). W. T. Helms, 84, suffered a heart attack Monday at his home on Route 1 Celina, Texas northeast of town. He succumbed instantly about 3:30 p.m. Mr. Helms had been active and in good health until a year or two ago when his health commenced to fail. Funeral services were held at the Cottage Hill Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. C. B. Garrett, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Celina conducting. Interment was in Cottage Hill Cemetery. Mr. Helms was born April 30, 1868 on a farm near where he was living when he died, son of Mr. and Mrs James Helms, pioneer Collin County residents. He was married in McKinney, Texas on September 28, 1891 to Miss Mary Alice Hamilton. Survivors are his wife; three sons, E. C. Helms of Celina, Texas, J. B. Helms who lived with his parents and Don Helms of Dallas, Texas; five daughters, Mrs. Fred Carlock of Rock Springs, Georgia, Mrs. Roy Brown of Grand Prairie, Texas, Mrs. Minnie Francis of Sadler, Texas, Mrs. Claude Melton of Celina, Texas and Mrs. Morris Smith of Denton, Texas. Other survivors are two brothers, T. P. Helms of Celina, Texas and Bob Helms of Weston, Texas; three sisters, Mrs. C. C. Carruth and Mrs. Rosa McWhirter both of Weston, Texas and Mrs. Flora Chipman of Tempe, Arizona. (The Celina Record, June 5, 1952)
