Funeral services for Cecil D. Young, 79, of Lavon and longtime resident of
Garland were held July 2, 2008, at Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services followed at Sulphur Springs Cemetery in Sulphur Springs.
David Davy officiated. Mr. Young died June 29, 2008, in Rowlett.

He was born Jan. 31, 1929, in Sulphur Springs to the late Cecil Carl and
Vannie Jewell Miller Young.

Mr. Young served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and
was a charter member of Saturn Road Church of Christ. He was a member of the
Garland Masonic Lodge #441 and the Hella Temple Shrine and Scottish Rites. He
retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 35 years.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joyce Sewell Young; sons, Ronny Young
and his wife Dee and Carl Steven Young and his wife Stacey; grandchildren,
Lance Young, Lacey Young Morrow and Sarah Young; five great-grandchildren and
one step-great-grandson; and sister, Nell Young Jackson.

Arrangements were under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home
of Sachse.
