Marion was born on Oct. 25, 1911, in McKinney, Texas, to Gibson and Goldie (Warden) Caldwell. She married Paul C. Young on Oct. 24, 1934, in McKinney, Texas. Marion graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, with a bachelor of arts degree. While attending SMU, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, where she served as president and was also president of the Mortar Board Society. Marion was a longtime McKinney resident, where she was active in the Halcyon Club, the Bluebonnet Club and as a Pink Lady at Collin Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed more than 50 years with her Dallas Sewing Club. Marion was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in McKinney, where she was active with the First United Methodist Social Workers. She is survived by her son, Jim Young and his wife, Jody of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Beverly Lightbourn and her husband, Walt of Dallas, Texas; grandson, Walt Lightbourn and his wife, Ruthie; granddaughter, Linda Read and her husband, Shane; great-grandchildren, James and David Lightbourn and Caroline, Will and Christopher Read; brother-in-law, George C. Webb; and numerous other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gibson and Goldie Caldwell; husband, Paul C. Young; sister, Goldie Webb; and brother, Jim Caldwell. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at First United Methodist Church of McKinney, with Dr. Jim Palmer officiating. A private interment will be held prior to the memorial service at Ridgeview Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience to pay their respects and to sign the register book. Funeral services are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow.
