She was born on May 19, 1873, at Danville, Alabama. On December 21, 1890, she was married to James R. Peterson at Comanche, Texas. The family moved to the Grimes community in 1905 and she lived there until 1944 when she moved to Cheyenne. In 1949 she moved to Oklahoma City, where death came Tuesday, August 3, 1954. Mrs. Peterson was a life long member of the Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughgters, Mrs. Effie Carey of Rogers, Arkansas, and Mrs. Ollie Clayton of Chowchilla, California, and two brothers, C.C. Thaxton of Los Cruces, New Mexico, and J.M. Thaxton of Edmond. She was preceded in death by her husband on August 2, 1948. Funeral services were held on Saturday morning at the Sunny Point community building with Rev. J.F. Wilkerson, pastor of the Cheyenne Baptist church officiating. Burial was in the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge.
