We are all well at present, the winter still continues, day before yesterday the 6th we had a severe snow storm the worst I have ever saw in this country but is all over and quite pleasant now, well we went out yesterday and caught a rabbit and I will send you one of its ears, as I can't get the whole scalp in the envelop. I have cut about an inch off the butt of its ear to get this one in, you boys and old Tige would not be a circumstance after one of these for with six men and six dogs we only caught the one out of three that we jumped, and that in deep snow, that was some times knee deep, I tell you it is no fool of a job to catch one of these, Well oats sowing is over and people are preparing for corn, I shall plant about next week, it is time of year to plant here now wheather winter is broke or not. You wanted me to send you the family record I will copy it off just as it is in the Bible John C. Well you wanted to know about Frank, he is here with us. he is afflicted with ?????? and suffers a great deal at times with fits. he has been so now for five years and gradually grows worse. He is not capable of attending to any thing now and scarcely be trusted out of sight as he is likely to take fits at any time althought he is a stout hearty looking fellow his mind is becoming weeker all the time and I would not be surprised if he went crazy yet. we have had Doctors to see him but they say he cannot be cured. Times are hard here and I am harder run than I have ever been, just now, but if we get a good crop year I think we will come out all right after while, we are still living together just as we did before I married, and still expect to as I will have to take care of them as long as they live, as it is getting late and I have nothing of importance I will close hoping this may find you as well as it leaves us. Yours, James Underwood Ma says she dont recollect for certain but thinks you were born on Monday
