From I-35 and California St. in Gainesville travel north on I-35, exit onto FM 1202 and go west (left) approximately 4 miles to FM 1201. Turn north on FM 1201 towards Sivells Bend and continue north until you come to the T- intersection of FM 1201 and FM 410. Take FM 410 west (left) until you come to the junction of FM 410, FM 408 and the Flying J Ranch. Turn north (right) into the ranch gate and from that point you are about 4.4 miles to the cemetery. After you cross a little bridge you are about .9 of a mile away and when you reach the end of the road you will come to the Barlow Cemetery. History of Warrens Bend: My great grandfather Matthew Henry Barlow came to Gainesville, TX sometime after the Civil War and was looking for a place to start a farm and a cotton gin. When he stood on the hill overlooking the Red River he thought the area reminded him of his home in Shiloh, Tennessee, so he bought 500 acres of the land that included the site of the Barlow Cemetery. My grandfather, J L Barlow, at one point owned the land and when he sold it donated the Barlow Cemetery land to Cooke County who maintains the cemetery today. On September 9, 1978 Michele Kneupper and Patti Tucker did a survey of the Barlow Cemetery that can be found in a book titled "Cemetery Records of Cooke County,TX (R929.3, 1980). 1. J.W. Perkins 2.
