It is located on what used to be the Young Plantation. It is on leased government land and is only accessible with a key and the leaser's consent. The oldest readable marker is dated 1854. The most notable grave is that of Colonel William C. Young who was assassinated from ambush by an alleged member of the 'Union League'. This set off a wave of hysteria and revenge which would result in a total of 42 men being executed in what was to become known as 'The Great Hanging'.
