Clifford Allred, minister of New Faith Baptist Church in Gainesville, and the Rev. Kenneth Phelps, Baptist minister, officiating. Mrs. Akin died Friday, April 16, 1999, at Medical City Dallas. She was born July 24, 1913, in Mountain Springs to Edward and Rosa Phemister Henry. In 1962, she married Raymond Akin in Dallas. She earned her masters from North Texas State University, majoring in nutrition and home economics. She was a teacher at various colleges and high schools for 40 years, and retired from Highland Park High School in Dallas. She was a 50-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma. An avid reader, she belonged to a book club in Richardson. She was a Presbyterian. Survivors include her nephew and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Akin; and brother, Noble Henry. Pallbearers will be nephews.
