Highway 82, Apt. 34, will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel with the Rev. Garry Way, pastor of Fair Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in New Rest Haven Cemetery. Mr. Brinkley died Wednesday in Gainesville Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Rush Springs, Okla., to the late Walter W. and Annie Elizabeth Harrold(sic) Brinkley. He served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II, receiving numerous decorations including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He married the former Bessie Childress Aug. 4, 1949, in Gainesville. He was employed with Southland Paint Co. for 17 years and prior to retiring was engaged in the nursery business. He attended Fair Avenue Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Bessie Brinkley of Gainesville; sons Darrell Brinkley of Peroia, Ariz., Earl, Everett, and Tony Brinkley of Gainesville and Jimmy Brinkley of Whitesboro; daughters Sue Nelson of Rowlett, Vickie Brinkley of Thackerville, Okla., and Tina Beaver of Gainesville; 16 grandchildren; brother Truman Brinkley of Gainesville; sisters Annie Harrold and Opal Knight of LaMirada, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Ernie Brinkley, Randy and George Childress, Oscar Turnham, James Childress and R. D. Childress. Visitation is tonight from 7-8 at the funeral home.
