AL in 1831. He had originated in SC, but the family has not been traced further back. Moses and his wife, Lena, had seven children, oldest,Thomas married the daughter of a neighboring Hill family. Their oldest son was David Alexander Ross who was killed in the battle of Perryville, KY during the Civil War. Around the time of the war the family had moved from AL to MS and following the war the family came to TX. Two pioneer families were united when Thomas Duncan Ross married Margaret Artemissa Farrar. Ten children were born to this couple, all attended schools in the Hubbard and Flat area. 1. Walter (1887-1959) married Addie Nutt; 2. Guvvan (Bud)( (1889-1953) married Mattie Bird; 3. Minnie (1892-1972) married Cortis Blanchard; 4. Carrie (1894-1969) married Ted Nunnelly; 5. Sally (1897-1990) married Ed Bird; 6. Hollie (1900-1965) married Fannie Turner; 7, Roy (1902-1982) married Vida Shelton; 8. Lillie Mae (Lil)(1906-1986) married Herman Beasley; 9.Tommie Lee (1909-1977)married Lois Farris; 10. Kate (1911-1999) married Robert Short. The Ross home place was inside what is now Fort Hood. When the Army moved the people out, the Church of Christ in Turnersville bought the Ross home and moved it to Turnersville to be their place of worship.
