O’Neal (Marker no longer exists at Killeen) FULL NAME: Nancy Harbour O’Neal BIRTH: 22 April 1801, Christian County, Kentucky DEATH: 6 March 1890, Coryell County, Texas MARRIAGE: circa early-1818, John O’Neal in Lawrence Co., Territory of Missouri – area became Lawrence County, Territory of Arkansas in 1819, and became Independence County, Territory of Arkansas in 1820. PARENTS: Joseph Harbour and Mary Stephens Harbour COMMENTS: In 1845, Nancy Harbour O’Neal inherited 500+ acres from her deceased father, Joseph Harbour in Washington County, Texas (near Brenham). This precipitated John and Nancy O’Neal and their family’s (plus connecting families) move from Independence County Arkansas to Texas between 1845 and 1850. The group of families moved up to Sugarloaf, Coryell County, Texas during the mid- 1850s. PARENTS: Unknown COMMENTS: Identity of this grave inferred from being adjacent to Nancy O’Neal; the fact that their daughter, Malinda O’Neal Elms was responsible for both John’s and Nancy’s burials (likely she would have buried them side by side); and the proximity of Elms infants (Malinda Elms’s grandchildren) graves nearby. Further, David O’Neal’s 1900 census states that David and Mary had one child deceased as part of their family description. Further research is required to prove this relationship. SUGARLOAF GRAVE #: 292 KILLEEN LOC: c-22-86-1 KILLEEN SEC: OS-C Army Assigned Section #—Row #—Plot #—Grave # Killeen Map MARKER NAME: O’Neal (Marker no longer exists at Killeen) FULL NAME: Unknown BIRTH: Unknown DEATH: Unknown MARRIAGE: PARENTS: Unknown COMMENTS: This O’Neal grave is two gravesites away from the Margaret Moser grave. There is family lore that Margaret Moser was somehow related to the O’Neals, but no conclusive evidence has been found to prove that relationship. Also, some of John and Nancy O’Neal’s children and grandchildren have not been located in area cemeteries; thus this grave might be one of those.
