S. Grimes, for $411 in hand paid by S.B. Raby, do convey that tract of land lying 1 mile from Gatesville part of Henry Farley League + Labor of land. Beginning at SE corner. Thence East along line N19 # 470 vrs to Stake. N 71 W464 vrs to middle of a branch. Down middle of branch with meandering to S line of said ...being the NW corner of survey deeded by R.G. Grant to B.W. Hammock. Thence S 71 E with South line 776 vr to beginning being 68 1/2 acres. 21 May 1872 E.S. Grimes Book G pg 561 repeat of above deed. Book L pg 197 Correction because 21 May 1872 deed for $411 didn't show that E.S. had been examined separately. 24 Dec 1877 On the 1877 deed both she and her husband, FM Grimes signed. Additional Comments: Their two sons (Tom and Henry) had been murdered in Waco, Oct 18, 1869 and buried in 1st Street Cemetery there. Could this have been E.S. raising money to purchase their obelisk tombstone? Frederick Miller Grimes married Elmira Susan Farley Feb 1, 1837. She was the daughter of Henry F. Farley who made the original land application, but died before it was fulfilled. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/txfiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
