Brazzil respectfully represents that he is a citizen of Coryell County, in the State of Texas, and that he makes this application for the purpose of obtaining a pension under the act passed by the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Texas, and approves May 12, A.D. 1899, the same being an act entitled "An Act to carry into effect the amendment to the Constitution of the State of Texas, providing that aid may be granted to disabled and dependent Confederate soldiers, sailors, and their widows under certain conditions, and to make an appropriation therefor," and I do solemnly swear that the answers I have given to the following questions are true. ================================================================= NOTE--Applicant must make answer to all of the following questions, and such answers must be written out plainly in ink. ================================================================= Q. I also certify that the said applicant J.W. Brazzil, is not an inmate of the Texas Confederate Home, nor otherwise disqualified under the provision of Section 12, of the Confederate Pension Law. I further certify that after considering all the proceedings had before me relative to the said application for a pension by the said J. W. On this day personally appeared E. L. Lawrence Known to me to be a credible citizen of Coryell County and upon his oath deposes and says - My name is E. L. Lawrence - I am 65 years old and live near Mound in Coryell County Texas. I personally know J. W. Brazzil who is an applicant for pension under Act of May 12, 1899. I have known J. W. Brazzil long before the war. I first knew him in Marion Co. Texas. I personally know that J. W. Brazzil did enlist in the service of the Confederacy and did perform the duties of a soldier He enlisted in Co. F 9th Texas Cavalry He enlisted in 1863 and served to close of the war. He enlisted in Marion County Texas. I know the fact of his service because I was in the war with him he belonging to the same Co. and regiment that I did. I know that he is the identical person testified about by me because I have seen him frequently since the war in Coryell Co. where he now lives. He never deserted the service of the Confederacy. X E. Commissioners for Confederate Pension Court of Coryell Co. Texas before RE West - Co. Judge On this 20th day of January 1908 personally appeared L. F. Brazzil Known to me to be a credible Citizen of Coryell County and upon his oath deposes and says - My name is L. F. Brazzil. I am 55 years of age and live near The Grove in this County and that is my Post-Office I personally know J. W. Brazzil who is an applicant for pension under Act of May 12th, 1899. He is my father and I have known him all my life I personally know that J. W. Brazzil did enlist in the service of the Confederacy and did perform the duties of a soldier. He enlisted in Co. "F" 9th Texas Cavalry. He enlisted in 1863 and served to close of the war. He enlisted in Marion County, Texas. I was living at home and was old enough to know of his service and personally know that he was in the service I being his son and living at home and seeing him in the service.
