   Gatesville Messenger July 1984 Jeff Smart dies at 87
   Memorial  services  were  held  at  10 a.m. Tuesday at Scott's Funeral
   Chapel  for  Thomas  Jefferson  Smart,  age  87,  who  died  Sunday in
   Gatesville.  The Rev. Harvey Ozmer officiated. Burial was at Hillsdale
   Cemetery.
   A  rancher  in  Lampasas  and Coryell counties until his retirement in
   1972,  Mr.  Smart  was  born  to  the  late  H.R.  and  Mary  Smart in
   Bruceville, Texas on Aug. 12, 1918. He was a World War I veteran and a
   member of the First United Methodist Church. He retired in 1972.
   Mr. Smart is survived by his wife Tula Mae Smart; his son Howard Smart
   of  Levita;  his  daughter Freda Martin of Oglesby; and three sisters,
   Nell Pearce, Bertha Watson and Mary Clary, all of Lampasas.
   He    is    also    survived    by   five   grandchildren   and   five
   great-grandchildren.
