Soddy, 85, died Sept. 28 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Services were held Sept. 30 at Scott's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Snoddy and Rev. Larry Adley officiating. Burial was in the Levita cemetery. Born Sept. 28, 1904 in the Levita Community, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Maggie Mayhew. She was raised and attended school in Levita. She married Buford Snoddy June 30, 1922 in Gatesville. He preceded her in death Aug. 1, 1980. Mrs. Snoddy was a poet and had served as minister of the Assembly of God Church in Levita for many years. She was a member of the Singing Sixties, authored the column "Food For Thought" for the Gatesville Messenger; played the piano for the Gatesville Senior Center and was salutatorian of the Gatesville High School Class of 1921. She is preceded in death by two sons, Dayne in 1980 and Darrell in 1988 and by one daughter, Sandra Ann Snoddy in 1940. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Ben (Angi) Pitrucha of Temple; five sons, Pat Snoddy and Myron Snoddy, both of Gatesville, Beau Snoddy of Alvarado, Bob Snoddy of Arlington and Frank Snoddy of Euless; 29 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers at the funeral were Richard Snoddy, Wallace Lee Snoddy, Ricky Snoddy, Craig Pitrucha, Randell Moody and Alan Spohn.
