All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm *********************************************************** James Evan Evans Ozona Rites Today Ozona (STNS)--James Evan Evans, 86, died early Sunday (1972) in a Sonora hospital. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in Ozona First Baptist Church with burial in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Born Oct. 15, 1885 in Llano, he lived in Ozona 51 years. He had been employed as a city employe for Ozona for a number of years and had also worked as a San Angelo city employe. He received area prominence in 1952 when he was revived by cardiac resuscitation afer his heart stopped. His case was said to be so rare as to be one in 35,000 at the time. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Della King of Iraan, May Evans of the home, Mrs. Myrtle Barefoot of Sheffield, Mrs. Leo Sutton of Maljamar, N.M., Mrs. A. W. Robertson and Mrs. W. A. Asbury, both of San Angelo, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
