KILLED BY THE POSSE

An Indian Territory Robber While Resisting Arrest Is Shot to Death

GAINESVILLE, Nov 21 - - Yesterday Deputy United States Marshal William Beard,
with a posse, got on the trail of Tom Patton, one of the robbers of
Overstreet's store Monday night. They overtook Patton at a point in the
Territory opposite Burlington. Being called on to surrender Patton showed
resistance, and was shot and killed by the posse. Part of the stolen booty was
found in his possession.
