KILLED BY ACCIDENT

Revolver Discharged, Killing Man on Visit to Big Pasture

LAWTON, OK, Dec. 2 -- In some manner a revolver in the haads of James Matlock
of Brownstown, Ind., was accidentally discharged last evening, instantly
killing Lee Bowman, the son-in-law of M. V. Lewis, Matlock's half brother. The
three men had been out in the Big Pasture to look it over with the intention
of bidding. They were on their way home, thirteen miles southwest of the city,
outside the pasture limits.

From the wagon in which they were riding they were shooting at small game
along the roadside with revolvers. The victim of the accident was in the front
seat doing the driving while the other two men were occupying the rear seat.
Just as Mr. Matlock was handling his revolver to level it at a bird it was
discharged. Not until the blood was seen spurting from the body of the driver
from the wound through the heart was the fatality of the accident realized.
