NOTED SOLDIER DEAD.

Kansas City, Mo., June 23 - - Capt. Langhorne, a famous figure in confederate
history, is dead at his home here of cancer. Capt. Langhorne was born in
Cunningham County, Virginia, in 1834. In the late war he received promotion
for his bravery and won honors under Gen. J. O. Shelby in the latter's Mexican
campaign. The story of Langhorne's holding Waxahachie with a small party of
soldiers is familiar.
