This rumor was verified to-day by a telegram from him stating that he had in tow one John May, alias J. R. Lewis, charged and indicted by the last grand jury for bigamy. The prisoner married quite a society belle of this place, Miss Anna Garley, having already a wife in Tulare, Cal. Sheriff Sisk went to the residence of his former wife, but in the interim John May ascertained that the officers were in pursuit, so he put out for Stockton, Cal. Mr. Sisk discovered his whereabouts and so set upon the case with successful results, as he will return Saturday with his prisoner. The sheriff was put to an enormous expense in the apprehension of this man. Title: Married Once Too Many Date: 1892-08-26 Page 8
