Dance Went on After That Old Killing - In Jail the Man Denies, Saying, "I Wasn't There." This article is in reference to a murder in April, 1883, at a barn dance near Garland. My grandfather, age 17, Charles E. Jacobs, started an argument with Frank Bullington and John Stroupe stepped in as he was older. Stroupe was killed and is buried in Garland next to the Jacobs plot area. Frank Bullington was finally arrested 32 years later but did not serve time for this murder or two others he was involved in.
