CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES

George Burgoon, a well known farmer who resides about 3 miles southeast of
Carthage, died at 5:40 o'clock p.m. Jan 12th, after a brief illness. He was 82
years old. Old age and a complication of disease caused his death.

Mr. Burgoon was born and raised in Texas, where he  resides at the opening of
the civil war. He became a member of the Confederate Army and fought for the
south until peace was restored.

He was married twice, his first wife having been dead a number of years. His
second wife survives him. Also leaves three daughters who are the daughters of
his first wife.

Mr. Burgoon was a member of the Methodist church. Mr. Burgoon ????? in the
community and has many friends here who will regret to hear of his death.
Peace to his ashes.
