Mrs. Chaddick was born in Georgetown, Texas on February 16, 1918 to Etta Mae and Jim May. Mrs. Chaddick received her Bachelor degree from Southwestern university and Master’s degree from Texas Women’s University with honors. She began her teaching career in surrounding towns and ultimately moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to teach at Del Mar College. There she met William Monroe Haddock (sic Chaddick) Jr. and married him on February 13, 1950. They had three children – Cynthia, Connor and Cheryl. In the early 60s, the family moved from Corpus Christi to Karachi, West Pakistan on assignment for Sun Oil Company. Because there was a shortage of credential teachers, Doris taught 7th grade at the Karachi American School. Upon returning to the states, they relocated to North Dallas. When Bill retired from Sun/Orrix in 1970 he entered into the commercial building management field in Plano. He built Chaddick Center and managed Chaddick Towers on 15th street in downtown Plano. Upon his death in 1979, Doris assumed his management responsibilities and managed the buildings for over 20 years. Doris was an active member of the Plano Chamber of Commerce. In October 2001, she was in a serious accident at the Center and was forced to retire. Her son, Connor, took over her duties and continues to manage the properties for the family. Over the next several years, she successfully overcame multiple physical obstacles; always setting an example for her family. She was very proud of all of her children’s accomplishments. For the past two years, Doris resided happily at Dayspring Assisted Living in Plano. Doris will be missed by all that had the benefit of knowing her and will be remembered for her high intelligence, wit and perseverance. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Chaddick, Cheryl Chaddick and her husband Eric Denner, all who currently reside in the San Francisco area; and her son, Connor Chaddick, his wife, Sherry and their children, William, Sarah and Preston, who live in Plano. A memorial service will be held in north Dallas at Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 7700 Spring Valley Road, on Friday, August 25, 2006, at 4 p.m. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/tx/dallas/obits/c/chaddick161nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/txfiles/ File size: 2.9 Kb
