Though the body showed little sign of life, Dr. A. T. Remer was summoned by the family in hopes that something might be done. It was pronounced by the doctor that heart failure was the cause of death, and that he was probably dead when he toppled over. In falling, the head struck on a plank and the forehead was slightly bruised. He was about 43 years old. Burial in the Greenwood cemetery. Added by Sulphur Springs Gazette - Mr. Crabtree was well known in this city, having lived here the greater part of his life. For the past several years he had been making his home in Dallas. His father, mother, four brothers, a sister, wife and two children survive him. (Gazette, Fri., Feb. 5, 1909) Later reported - Mr. & Mrs. W. E. Crabtree and brother, Lawrence, of this city, attended the funeral services of their brother, E. R. Crabtree, who died in Dallas Saturday night.
