W. Moore, a pioneer citizen of the county, died yesterday evening at the home of his son, Deputy Sheriff W. J. Moore, 52 Melba street, Oak Cliff, aged 67 years. Mr. Moore was born in Illinois in 1842, and came to Texas with his parents in 1853. The family at first located near where Orphans Home now stands, but a few years later removed to a farm, near Hutchins. Mr. Moore was in the Ranger service for several years before the Civil War, but when the trouble between the States came on, he enlisted in the Confederate Army, and was a soldier from the beginning to the end of the struggle. After the war Mr. Moore returned to his farm, near Hutchins, and was actively engaged in agricultural pursuits almost until the day of his death. He is survived by his widow and three children - Deputy Sheriff W. J. Moore, J. C. Moore of Hutchins and Mrs. Effie Lowe of Corpus Christi. The body will be conveyed to Hutchins, where the funeral will take at 4 o'clocl this afternoon, Rev. Joe W. English conducting the service.
