Morris Came to Texas in 1840. Settled in Dallas County in 1852. Served Confederacy Dallas County lost one of its first pioneers in the recent death of T. A. Morris at Cedar Hill. Mr. Morris came to Texas in February, 1840, from Sangamon County, Illinois, where he was born. In 1852 he came to Dallas County. After a few years he moved to Parker County but returned to Dallas in 1866. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861 and served under Col. Roger Q. Mills in the battles of Pea Ridge, Chickamaugua, Vicksburg and Atlanta, where he was captured. In 1867, he was married to Miss Amanda Heath, who survives him. The following children are living: Mrs. Mattie Rittemberry, Cedar Hill; Mrs. Frank Smith, Canyon City; Byrum and Albert Morris, De Soto; Mrs. E. P. Boyd, Iowa Park, and Mrs. Floyd Ard, Dallas.
