Pleasant on July 28. Mrs. Hargrove, a sister to Robert Wacaser, of this place, waas thrown from a hack at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church today as she was preparing to return home from the AM services and is supposed to have received fatal injuries. Her left ear was crushed off and a gash four inches long cut on her head, besides dislocating the left arm at the wrist and internal injuries caused by a wheel passing over her breast. She is a very old lady and will hardly survive this shock. ---- 1896 ---- 9-27-1896 Andrew Spillers dies at Parkland Hospital of pneumonia. Burial at Knights of Pythias Cem. Survivors are mother,father, sister and wife and 3 children. ---- 1909 ---- 10-14-1909 Cythnia Adeline MacKenzie McCallum die at her home in Pleasant Valley. She was born in York Co, SC on March 24,1844. She married William Augustus Joseph McCallum on Jun.6,1875. He came to Tx in 1871 to Rusk Co, and came to Pleasant Valley in 1874. Survivors are her children: Ernest Haskell, Ono, Claude, Edythe Lola, Calos Lorraine, Percy McNeil, who died at age two. Her sister of NC, her brother Dr. A.H. McKenzie of Daedanelle, Ark. Local relative is W.H. Roach. ---- 1911 ---- 12-15-1911 Mrs. John T. Jones died. Born at Black Hawk,Miss on June 29,1856. When she was 9 years old with her father Augustus Hobbs was killed in the Civil War. Her mother died when she was 11 or 12, and her grandparents reared the children and came to Tx in 1866. She married John Thomas Jones on July 17,1873 in Dallas Co. Survivors are: husband and children: H.W. Jones, Miss Minnie, J.T. Jr., Mrs. Homer Sumners, Mrs. C.L. Little dead: John M. Little, familiarly known as Uncle Johnny, died at age 80 at his home in Rosehill last Friday, April 6, and was buried a Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Funeral services were conducted at Rosehill Baptiste Church with Brother Scott of Richardson. .. Uncle Johnny is survived by 5 children, Abe, Mrs. Fannie Swaffar, Mrs. J.R. Anderson, Mrs. Sarah Crabb and Mrs. Jim Ramsey. One child is dead. His wife, deceased, was Maria Davis, a sister to Uncle Johnny Davis. All the elder people knew Uncle Johnny and his death will be a sorrow for several families.. 5-25 -1917 Uncle Jeff Little died at Rosehill. Will J. Little, father R.T. Little, died at the homeplace there on Sunday., May 20. Funeral Services were held Monday, by Bro.Beck, pastor of the Rose Hill Methodist Church., with interrment at Pleasant Mound. Grandpa Little was 83 years at the time of his death and had lived most of his life in the original John Little League Survey, the estate of his father., one of the earliest pioneers of this community. He was born in Illinois, but moved to Anderson Co. when quite young, and shortly after moved to Dallas Co. His wife was Rosa Amos. He is survived by 3 childre: R.T. and Mrs.Lula Ross of Rosehill and Mrs. Fletcher Warren of Tahoka,Tx. 11-3-1917 Mrs. Mary McEntee, w/o Pat McEntee, died Saturday. McDaniel died while visisting stepsons Jack Routh and A.E. Pendleton at the home of his son Harmon McDaniel, Dallas Co., last Thursday. 86 years old, he suffered from asthma and enlarged heart. He was taken to Henrietta for burial. Mrs.John Routh and son Charlie attended the funeral. Mrs. McDaniel was married three times, 1st to John Routh, 2nd to William Pendleton and 3rd to W.R. McDaniel. She is survived by 9 children John Routh and Ed Pendleton of Dallas, Mrs. S.E.Hohenstein of Henrietta, Mrs.Fannie Greer of Halett,Ark., Mrs Maud Matlock, Mrs.Ollie Matlock,and Mrs. Bessie Rattertree, all of Oregon, William Pendleton of Wheeler snd Mrs. S.A. Douglas of Whichita Falls. She is survived by brother Amos Saunders of Dallas and sisters Mrs. Porter Wright of Richardson, Mrs Brown of Mo. and Mrs. Harvy Wilson of Garland. She lived on Oregon with her children and returned to Garland after the death of her latest husband. Services were held at Henrietta last Saturday. 11-28-1928 Mrs. Gus Poovey ..born Apr.10,1858, married A.F. Poovey 11-8-1874. They had 8 children ,all but one are still living. He was fine the day before,when he came to town for trading..........born July 7,1847 near Roxton in Lamar Co. He joined the Confederate cause in the Civil War when he was 16 years old and stayed there for 4 years.... Married Sept.15,1867 to Miss Martha Herring. they had 13 children, 4 of whom are living.The four are: Mrs. Ida Keller, Mrs. Maud Buchanan, Mrs. Sarah Jane Killion and Mrs. Ola Bell Corley. The nine dead are : James Daniel , John Thomas , Ali , Henry Haskell , William , Annie May, Mrs. Virginia Altha and Marion along with his wife. He is survived by one sister, Sis Billingsly of Roxton. Burial was at the family cemetery near Sachse. 4-1-1931 Cecil Monroe Spillers died at his home on 910 W.10th St.. He is survived by mother and brothers, Hasell Spillers and M.L. Spillers, 2 grandmothers, Mrs. M.A. Sharp and Mrs. Margaret Spillers. Burial was at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Garland. 11-16-1931 We have recieved news of the accidental shooting of D.C. Sachse in Gladstone,NM. Known as "Dee" in Union Co,NM, he was cleaning his rifle when it discharged in his face. He is survived by sons: Bryan and D.C.,jr; daughters: Gertrude Kirby and Joyce Wallace ; 4 brothers: J.K.,J.N.,Frank, and Boone; 2 sisters: Mrs. R.A. Brand and Mrs. W.W. Ingram. She was born Martha Herrring 1852 in Collin Co near Murphy. She married Sep.18,1867 to J.K. McAmis, to which union was born 12 children. Wilbanks and 1 sister, Mrs. Lum Tucker. 8-5-1960 Wedding marred by death..driver killed..groom injured...racing away from the church to their honeymoon car, Mr William Curtis Swaffar, the driver, lost control of the vehicla on Belt Line Rd at Barnes Bridge Rd. He was taking the curve and the car tumpled over, throwing Mr.Curtis out of the car. The car flipped and landed on top of Mr. Curtis, killing him instantly. The bridegroom, Tommie Myers,20, was injured slightly as was the bride, Alice Faye Allen,22. Mr. Swaffar,48, was an uncle tof the bridegroom.
