Ogle The Garland, Texas, News Vol. 47, No. 12 Fri., 23 June, 1933 Veteran Practitioner Passes Away at His Home Early Tuesday Dr. J. H. Ogle, veteran physician who had practiced medicine in this community for more than forty years, died early Tuesday morning at his home after an extended illness which had kept him confined at times to bed either at home or in the hospital for the past several months. He was the last of the old line family doctors who had administered to the ills of this community from the date of the town's infancy. Dr. J. H. Armstrong and Dr. J. D. Moorman, former associates, having preceded him in death by several months. And his passing is felt by a host of patients and friends to whom he had endeared himself through his amiable personality and neighborly associations. Dr. Ogle was born in Maryville, Tenn., Oct. 3, 1860. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1892. After starting his practice here his services to the community were broken but once, when he removed for a short time to West Texas, returning later to take up where he left off. He was ever in the midst of the town's activities and all things of a progressive nature claimed his support. His health, however, began to fail about a year ago and after intermittent confinements of short duration it finally became necessary for him to be administered to by specialists with whom he had previously associated professionally. A few weeks in the care of members of his profession at Dallas sufficed to restore somewhat his vigor and permit him to return here and resume practice in a limited way. His office was removed to his home and though he did not undertake to make calls to the homes of the community as formerly, he was at the disposition of ill persons at the family residence almost up to the day of his death. The last weeks of his life were burdened with much suffering his heart condition preventing him from securing the proper amount of rest and making it extremely difficult for him to breathe. He was able to come to town the week previous to his death on periodic occasions, and friends saw him daily who passed his front porch in the evenings. He could not, however, withstand the ravages of the ailment which claimed his life, even though his fight was courageous and persistent. The burdens of his almost seventy-three years, coordinating with his heart trouble, took his last vestige of energy in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Surviving Dr. Ogle are his wife, Roxie Walton Ogle; three children, Mrs. Charles L. Ward of Abilene, Mrs. Willard Ogle of Dallas, J.H. Ogle, Jr. of Garland; two brothers, the Rev. J. T.
