Richards] Texas Bank Pioneer Dies W. E. Richards, 76, pioneer Texas banker, died Monday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Raymond B. Bennett, 125 Windomere. Born and reared on a Freestone County farm, Richards entered the merchandising business at 18 and followed the profession for ten years before he took up banking. During his life he was associated with more than thirty banks. He served as president of several South Texas banks, including the American Bank & Trust Company of Houston. Richards was a member of the Masonic order and active in the First Methodist Church of Dallas. He had resided in Dallas since 1929. Surviving besides his daughter are a granddaughter and two sisters, Miss Nettie Barnett, Corsicana, and Mrs. Loftin R. Boyd, Teague. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 p.m. in the Sparkman-Brand Funeral Chapel, 2115 Ross Avenue, with the Rev. W.C. Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Fairfield, Freestone County. Pallbearers will be Lewis B. Bonner and Brice R. Bonner of Corsicana, Hill D. Hudson, Recos; George F. Brown, Harry Crenshaw and George A. Biersach, all of Dallas.
