All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** Gatesville Messenger 18 NOV 1985 AUSTIN FRANKLIN WHITEHEAD Austin Franklin Whitehead, 61, of Mesquite died Oct. 24 at a Dallas Hospital. Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at the Anderson-Clayton Funeral Home in Mesquite. Mr. Whitehead was born July 23, 1924 at Topsey, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Whitehead. He had lived in Coryell and Bell Counties until he went ito the U.S.Army in July 1942, where he served until January, 1950. He married Evelyn Knight of Purmela and they continued to live in the Coryell County area until 1953, when they moved to Mesquite. He was a barber and had owned several shops in the area. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mesquite. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Katie Holland of Kemp and Kathie Inman of Mesquite; five sons, Franklin Wayne, Jack Austin and Donald Algis of Mesquite and Michael Gregory and Gary James of Baltimore, Maryland; two sisters, Belle Guffey of Marble Falls and Ruby Perry of Copperas Cove; four brothers, W.T. of Belton, H. V. of Paris, John C. and Arthur D. of Florence; and five grandchildren. (NOTE: Austin Franklin Whitehead is buried at Long Creek Cemetery, Sunnyvale, Dallas County, Texas - Robert Bennett)
