All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** From the files of June Tuck FREEMAN, CLIFF, MRS. - (Cooper Review) - News reached Cooper Monday of a tragedy which occurred about 7 o'clock that morning at Rattan in which Mrs. Freeman took her own life by drinking carbolic acid. She was at her father's, W. M. McFarland, when she took the deadly drug and it is understood that she only lived about 15 minutes afterward. The deceased was 19 years old and had been married to Mr. Freeman about three years. They had a comfortable home on a farm several miles from Rattan, and as far as their neighbors knew, lived happily together. There was no inquest, and the funeral took place at Rattan Tuesday in the presence of a very large crowd. (S.S. Gazette, Fri., Aug. 28, 1908)
