He returned to Indiana, where he married Mary Berry on December 27, 1849. In 1850, they were living Floyd County, Indiana, with wife, Mary, living with her parents, Samuel and Elizabeth Berry. They then returned to Texas. All of their children (their known children) were born in Texas. Eventually, they were living in Fannin County, where they definitely appear on the 1880 census and possibly on the 1860 census (not sure) In 1861, Claiborne Bryant served as Pvt. in CSA Army, serving under his brother, Alexander, who was a Capt. and with brother Joseph R., a Pvt. Served in 34th Texas Cavalry, aka 2nd Partisan Rangers, organized at Ft. Washita, IT, Apr. 17, 1862, surrendered May 26, 1865. In 1880 census, Fannin County, Texas, with wife M.A. and three children, S. E., age 16, A. C., age 11, and John, age 6. In 1891 he purchased property with wife M. A., Pilot Pt., Denton Co., TX. 1900 census, Denton County, Texas: C. R. does not appear. Mary A. Bryant, S. E. Bryant and A. C. Bryant and his wife, Nora McDonald Bryant, and their three children, Clyde, Harry and Grace lived next door. Census says Mary A. Bryant had eight children, four living. The 1900 census for the area stated that son, Albert Bryant and Nora Bryant owned their home, though it was mortgaged, but in fact the deed was not granted on that property by sister, S. E. Bryant, then Mrs. A. D. Cagle, until 1902, and it was granted only to Nora. Albert Bryant had literally "disappeared" between 1900 and 1902, the family never knowing what happened to him. Albert was listed on the census as a musician. According to rumors, he was either killed by bandits and tossed into the Trinity River, or merely walked away from his family and was never seen again.
