Holmes, pioneer citizen of Denton county and for more than thirty years a resident of Aubrey, was held in Aubrey Tuesday morning with a large crowd, many from Denton and Little Elm and other points over the county in attendance. Mr. Holmes was 69 years old and had been a lifelong member of the Christian church. Surviving him are Rev. Eugene Holmes, pastor of the Christian church at Gainesville, George and Tullis Holmes, now in the national service at Camp Bowie and Mrs. Mamie Carlisle and Paul and Clarence Holmes, who made their home with their father.
