All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ***************************************************** HALL, Dr. WILLIAM V.- Denton, Texas, June 24, 1922 - Dr. William V. Hall, 83 years old, who since 1842 had been a resident of Texas, died here at his home on Oakland Avenue. He practiced medicine in Hopkins County for over forty years. When Dr. Hall was 3 years of age his parents moved from Abbeville, S. C., to Shelby County, Texas. Following his service as a Confederate veteran in the Civil War in Whitfield’s Legion, he moved to Hopkins County, where he was married to Miss Downing of Cumby. Three children were born, the late State Senator W. L. Hall of Wharton, J. H. Hall of Oklahoma, and Mrs. Will Sullivan of Campbell. He married again in 1884 to Miss Fannie Snell of Nashville, Tenn. Four children were born to them, Virgie Snell Hall, who died when 3 years old, Mrs. John Henry Clark, who died in Denton in 1910; Clarence S. Hall of Greenville and Mrs. W. A. Wilson of Denton. He had lived in Denton since 1908. The funeral service was held at the family residence on Oakland avenue on Friday at 5:30 with the Rev. S. J. Mathieson, pastor of the First Christian Church, in charge, assisted by Rev. J. Sam Barcus, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment was in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery.
