She married William Ballew on Mar 08, 1852 in Buchanan, Botetourt County, VA. Sarah and William moved their family from Botetourt County, Virginia to Liberty, Clay County, Missouri about 1872, and then to Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas about 1879. Widowed in 1884, Sarah Jane remarried in 1900 to William M. Reynolds, father-in-law of her daughter Gillia. Sarah Jane was widowed a second time. Here are transcripts of two obituraries from the Denton Record Chronicle: (1)----------------------- MANY PRESENT AT MRS. REYNOLDS FUNERAL SERVICES Pilot Point, April 30 Funeral services for Mrs. S. J. Reynolds, who died April 28 at the age of 95 years, six months and six days, were held at the First Baptist Church Tuesday, conducted by Rev. D. H. Pitts of Dallas and Rev. Mr. Cox of Tioga. The music was directed by H. A. Hale. "Face to Face" was sung by Mrs. George McDonald, with Mrs. Spears of Tioga as accompanist. Mrs. Reynolds was the oldest citizen in Pilot Point and had lived here 53 years. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church. Five children of a family of 11 are still living and more than 150 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons Wilson Ballew of Amarillo, Perry Ballew of Elk City, Oklahoma, John Tomberlin of Tioga, Walter Reynolds of San Antonio, Ira Phinney of Graham, and J. Ballew of this place. Out of town relatives here were Mr. and Mrs. Leonard (Len) Ballew and son, Donald, of Clarendon; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ballew and son, Everitt, of Vernon; J. Walter Ballew of Altus, Oklahoma; Walter Reynolds of San Antonio; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reynolds and two children of Abbott; Mr. and Mrs. E. Reynolds of Paris; Arthur Reynolds of Dalhart; S. A. Ballew and three children and Bob Ballew and two children of Fort Worth; Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Ballew of Grand Prairie; Wilson and Fred Ballew of Amarillo; Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Williams of Wichita Falls; Mrs. and Mrs. Carl F. Gilliam of Hereford; Ira Phinney and daughter of Graham; Mrs. Oscar Hurst of Dalhart; Mrs. Leslie Tomlinson of Dallas; Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Phinney and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Phinney and baby, O. H. Phinney Sr. and Bill Phinney of Graham; Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Sloan of Breckenridge; Mrs. and Mrs. A. L. (2)----------------------- MRS. S. J. REYNOLDS DIES AT AGE OF 95 Pilot Point, April 27 Mrs. S. J. Reynolds, 95 years, six months and six days of age and probably the oldest person in Denton County, died here Sunday night. She had been ill for some time. Mrs. Reynolds had been a resident of the Pilot Point community for more than 50 years, coming here from Missouri. She is survived by five children: Leonard Ballew of Clarendon, Walter Ballew of Altus, Charles Ballew of Vernon, Mrs. Maggie Pebley of California, and (Gillia) Mrs. R. L. Reynolds of Pilot Point. She is also survived by more than 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held here at the home of Mrs. R. L. Reynolds Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. D.
