ANDREWS Republic of Texas County of Gonzales This indenture made and entered into this 19th day of May A.D. 1842 Between ANDREW LOCKHART of the Republic and County aforesaid on the first part and SAMUEL ANDREWS of the second part Witnesseth: That for and in consideration of the sum of Five Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid the said LOCKHART hathe bargained sold, conveyed Reversed and Released and by these presents dothe Grant, bargain, sell , convey Reverse and Release unto the said SAMUEL ANDREWS his heirs-and Administrators all that tract piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid and described as follows- commencing at the upper or North East corner of Survey No. 17 in Class 2 Granted to WASHINGTON LOCKHART by the Mexican Government Thence with the meanders of the Guadaloupe River down to the corner of a Survey made for L. D. SMITH Thence with the upper line of said L.D. SMITH survey to the back line of said survey Thence with the original line of said survey NO. 17 to the place of beginning supposed to contain Five Hundred and Fifty- Five acres more or less Together with all the Privileges thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold unto him said ANDREWS his heirs and assigns forever and the said LOCKHART for himself his heirs executors or Administrators doth covenant with the said ANDREWS his being and assigns the Tittle to the above described premises to warrant and forever defend against the claim or claims of all and every person or persons claiming or to claim the same both in law and equity.
