J. Walter Davis, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. C. R. Hankins, pastor, of the Groom Methodist Church. Mrs. Clark, 74 years old, a resident of Groom for the past 12 years, died at her home here early Sunday following a heart attack. Pallbearers were Sam Black, Jodie Helm, Elmer Ashmead, O. P. Blackwell, Rudolph Tucker, and W. C. Whatley. Interment was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon, under direction of Murphy Funeral Home of Clarendon. Survivors are two sons, E. H. Clark of Tulsa and E. E. Clark of League City, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Mattie McAdams of Groom; two brothers, John Ray of Groom and Tom Ray of Amarillo; a sister, Mrs. C. W. Baker of Santa Ana, Calif.; nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Clark was born Dec. 6, 1883. She and her husband, the late John Clark, resided on a farm in Gray County in the Grandview community for a number of years before she moved to Groom. CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our gratitude to everyone for the many cards, flowers, food, and expressions of sympathy received in our recent bereavement. Your kindness will always be remembered. --The children of Mrs. Jennie Clark Additional Comments: Both John Harden & Jennie Ilar (Ray) Clark lived much of their early life in Jericho. During that time, Mr. Clark was proprietor of the J. H. Clark Livery Stable in Clarendon. The Clarks were married November 22, 1900 in Clarendon, where they went on to have four children, three of them born in Jericho. Their four children were: Mattie Lorena, born November 13, 1901 in Jericho, died April 27, 1980, in Groom, Carson County, TX. Everett Harden ("Rusty"), born February 19, 1904 in Jericho, died March 22, 1994 in Denton, Denton County, TX. Ewin Emerson Sr. ("Skeet"), born December 9, 1905 in Jericho, died December 9, 1975 in Texas City, Galveston County, TX. Ebey Leroy, born August 22, 1923 in Gray County, TX, died February 14, 1944 in Bari, Italy (KIA in WWII as a tailgunner during a bombing mission). Jennie left Donley County for Carson County after injuries from a car accident caused John's death in 1945.
