CISCO, Tex., Jan. 16 - Mrs. Phoebe H. Haws, nee Hill, died of pneumonia in 
Cisco, Tex., on Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, 1891. Thus passed away one of the 
most widely known characters in the early history of the settlement of 
northwestern Texas. Mrs. Haws was born in Jefferson county, Tenn., about sixty 
years ago, and resided successively in Alabama and in Chickasaw county, Miss., 
before she emigrated to Texas. She came to Parker county several years before 
the late civil war and kept hotel in Stephenville and Eastland City.
