   J.V. Allen
   
   SEMINOLE -- J.V. Allen, 79, of Seminole, a retired employee of Hoffman
   Oil Well Service, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at his residence.
   
   Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ratliff Funeral Home with the Rev.
   Derrell  Evans  officiating. Burial will be at Gaines County Cemetery.
   Arrangements by Ratliff Funeral Home.
   
   He  was born in Caddo, Okla., and had been a resident of Gaines County
   since 1929. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
   
   SURVIVORS:  Sons,  Donnie  Allen of Mabank and Tommie Allen of Odessa;
   stepson,  Mike  Elder of Seminole; stepdaughter, Carol Brown of Tulsa,
   Okla.;  brothers,  W.R.  Allen  of Seminole and M.J. Allen of Electra;
   sisters,  Shirlene  Presly of Seminole, Varena Blackman of Jarrell and
   Goldie    Zaicek    of    Electra;    nine   grandchildren;   and   15
   great-grandchildren.
   
   Maxine Gambrell
   
   ANDREWS  -- Maxine Gambrell, 97, of Andrews, a homemaker, died Sunday,
   Dec. 20, 1998, at the Andrews County Nursing Center.
   
   Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Andrews Old Cemetery
   with David King officiating. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home.
   
   She  was born in Smith County and moved to Andrews in 1967 from Troup.
   She was a member of the Body of Christ Jesus faith.
   
   SURVIVORS:  Daughter,  Margoary Roberts of Andrews; two grandchildren;
   and four great-grandchildren.
   
   Gene Hendryx
   
   ALPINE  --  Gene  Hendryx,  71,  of  Alpine,  owner of an Alpine radio
   station  and  former state representative, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998,
   in Alpine.
   
   Mass  will  be  celebrated  at  2  p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Peace
   Catholic  Church  with  the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Rosary will be
   said  at  7:30 p.m. today at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Burial
   will be at Elm Grove Cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
   
   He  was  born  in  Ochiltree  County. He was a Marine Corps veteran of
   World War II. He was Catholic.
   
   SURVIVORS:  Wife, Nancy Hendryx of Alpine; sons, Gene Ray Hendryx Jr.,
   Forrest  George  Hendryx  and  Houston  Bowie  Hendryx, all of Alpine;
   brothers,  Burt  Hendryx  and Jimmy Hendryx; sisters, Earlene Ames and
   Naomi Thompson; and six grandchildren.
   
   Juan Jaquez
   
   MONAHANS -- Juan P. Jaquez, 66, of Pyote, a retired truck driver, died
   Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, in Pyote.
   
   Mass  will  be  celebrated  at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic
   Church  with the Rev. Robert Alvarado officiating. Rosary will be said
   at  7:30  p.m.  today  at  Harkey Funeral Home. Arrangements by Harkey
   Funeral Home.
   
   He was born in Ruidosa, Texas. He was Catholic.
   
   SURVIVORS: Brother, Richard Jaquez of Pyote.
   
   Otha Rowell
   
   ODESSA -- Otha Rowell, 74, of Odessa, a Baptist minister, died Sunday,
   Dec. 20, 1998, at Deerings Nursing Home.
   
   Graveside  services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens
   with   the   Rev.   Clydell   Chapman   officiating.  Arrangements  by
   Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
   
   He was born in Wortham and moved to Odessa in 1939 from Mexia.
   
   SURVIVORS:  Daughter,  Twilla  Bundick  of  Odessa; son, Doc Rowell of
   Coahoma; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
   
   Leonard Sinclair
   
   ODESSA  --  Leonard  Allen  Sinclair,  82,  of  Odessa, a farmer, died
   Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at New Horizons Nursing Home.
   
   Graveside  services will be at 4 p.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery with
   Paul  Smith  officiating.  Arrangements  by  Frank  W.  Wilson Funeral
   Directors.
   
   He was born in Sulphur, Okla. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
   
   SURVIVORS:  Son,  Leo  Sinclair  of  Hernando,  Miss.;  brothers, Y.L.
   Sinclair  of  Morton, Leroy Sinclair of Nevada; sisters, Bonita Wilson
   of  Nevada,  Vicky  Griffith  of  Spiro,  Okla., and Merlene Holden of
   Earlimart, Calif.; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
   
   Emma DeLacruz
   
   ODESSA  -- Emma DeLacruz, 49, of Odessa died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at
   Medical Center Hospital.
   
   Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.
   
   Joe Wright
   
   ODESSA -- Joe Wright, 63, of Odessa died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at his
   residence.
   
   Services are pending with Odessa Funeral Home Angeles Memorial Chapel.
