Callie Faye was born on June 28, 1917, to R. Lando and Ophelia Roberts Harber in Taylor County near Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1935. She met, fell in love and then married Henry Lee Jordan on Sept. 19, 1936. They lived in the Abilene area, later moving to San Angelo. In 1943, Henry Lee and Callie Faye moved to Odessa during the "growing boom" to work and raise their family. They owned Jordan and Sons Construction, and Callie Faye was a homemaker and a long-time Ector County Independent School District food service employee, serving hot meals to "her kids." Callie Faye was a long-time member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ. She also worked with the Meals on Wheels and enjoyed her many friends at the Senior Center. She was blessed with many lifelong friends and never considered living anywhere but in Odessa. Their union was blessed with four children, and Callie Faye loved her Lord and her family foremost in this life. She was preceded in death by her loving parents; one brother and two sisters; and her beloved husband, Henry Lee Jordan, in 1981; and her son Stanley Mel Jordan in 1985. Callie Faye's survivors include her son, Thomas Michael Jordan of Cypress, and her two daughters and their husbands, Wanda Lee and R.J. Brinlee of Odessa and Llano and Linda Sue and Jon Hubbs of Odessa. Callie Faye is also survived by her brother, Melvin Cash Harber, and his wife Judy of Amarillo. She was Grandma to 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, loving each of them in her own special, unique way. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, and her special extended family at Parks Methodist Retirement Center who loved and cared for her. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the Hubbard-Kelly Chapel. Interment will follow at the side of her husband at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Loved ones who cannot attend, please join us in spirit. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Odessa Christian School or Parks Methodist Retirement Village building fund. The family's lunch will be provided by a host of friends at the Sherwood Church of Christ annex building at noon on Monday. She will be greatly missed, but will be fondly remembered for her sparkle, her huge smile and her grateful heart. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home in Odessa. _________________________________________________________________ Copyright © 1998 Odessa American. All rights reserved.
