December 08, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Daisie Elizabeth Buck, 78, of Odessa died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at her residence. She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Balmorhea. She married O. V. Buck Sept. 6, 1938, in Lovington, N.M., and they moved to Odessa from Baird in 1950. She had worked at the Model Shop for 16 years and was Presbyterian. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.V. Buck, July 31, 1998; brothers, Ralph Robinson and T. A. (Pood) Robinson; and son, Wayne Buck. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Buck of Odessa; grandson, Mark Buck and his wife, Kathy of Enumclaw, Wash.; and great grandchildren, Shelby and Joshua Buck. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. _________________________________________________________________ Laverne Casey Archer BIG SPRING -- Services for Laverne Casey Archer will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Church of Christ at 14th Street and Main Street. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. There will be visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30 to noon Wednesday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Laverne was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy E. Casey of Big Spring; and her son, Billy Robert Casey of Marshall. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth R. Archer of Odessa; parents, Mattie and J.H. Fuller of Big Spring; mother-in-law, Roby Lee Archer of Odessa; daughter and son-in-law, Karon and retired Lt. Col. Ray Magee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; step-son, Allen Archer and his wife Theresa, of Odessa; sisters and their husbands, Joanne and Richard Scott of Odessa and Sherry and Bob Wegner of Big Spring; brother and his wife, Don and Dottie Fuller of Garland; nine grandchildren, Laurie Nuta of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Susan Lazor of Calhan, Colo., Michael Magee of Bellevue, Wash., Jonathan Magee of Greeley, Colo., Kristin Magee of Silverthorne, Colo., Billy Casey, Lisa Casey, Charlie Casey and James Casey, all of Marshall; eight great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Justin, Kerri, Jason, Kyle, Ryan and Miranda; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Jack Leonard Harwell, 75, of Odessa will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Strempke officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Lawnhaven Cemetery in San Angelo. Mr. Harwell died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Cordell, Okla. He married Janet Kahlig Dec. 6, 1982, in Odessa. Mr. Harwell moved to Odessa in 1981 from Kermit. He served in the Army for five years in the American and E.A.M.E. theaters during World War II. He was an endowed member of the Andy G. Vaughn Masonic Lodge. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Scottish Rite. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He was in law enforcement for 44 years. He was a sergeant for the Ector County Sheriff's Department for 10 years and in the reserve from 1991 to 1998. Survivors include his wife, Janet Kahig Harwell of Odessa; sons, Dr. Wiley Harwell of Norman, Okla., and James "Brian" Harwell of Odessa; daughters, Jacklyn Nikkel of Hereford, Cathy Pennington of Abilene, Kan., and Joy Foss of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters, Eva Phipps and Etta Livingston, both of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Royalty, 95, of Odessa will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jim Hawk officiating. Mr. Royalty died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Feb. 20, 1903, in Lubbock. He married Mary Mime Guthrie in September 1929, in Lovington, N.M. She died May 6, 1991. Mr. Royalty retired from Gulf Oil Company in 1966. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his brother, Marion Royalty of Richardson; sister, Joyce Royalty of Richardson; three grandchildren, Mike Royalty of Gardendale, Susan Royalty of Virginia Beach, Va., and Janet Walbeck of Richardson; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Jewel R. Van Dusen, 89, of Odessa will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Eldorado Cemetery in Eldorado. Mrs. Van Dusen died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born March 28, 1909, in Equality, Ala. She married William Van Dusen April 17, 1954. He died Nov. 1, 1986. Mrs. Van Dusen moved to Odessa in 1988 from Eldorado. She was a past Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Woman's Club and First Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Martha Jo Morris of Odessa; sons, Owen Lawrence Jr. of Quitman, David Lawrence of Midland and John D. Lawrence of Mineola; step-sons, Jerry Van Dusen of Houston, Walter Van Dusen of Mesquite, Billy Van Dusen of Odessa and Kenneth Van Dusen of Grand Prairie; brothers, George Reed and Donald Reed, both of Fort Worth, and Harold Reed of Benbrook; sister, Eva Satour of Tucson, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ George Harden Tyler PECOS -- George Harden Tyler, 81, of Odessa, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, at Avalon Nursing Center in Odessa. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Matt Williamson officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mr. Tyler was born in Honey Grove. He retired from Steere Tank Lines in Odessa. He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be missed deeply. Survivors include Earnestine (Tina) Claiborne of Odessa, loving companion of 30 years; daughter, Brenda Murdock Blackwell of Abilene; sisters, Dorothy L. Musick of Big Spring, M. Kathleen Ashing of Odessa, Neta Maston of Garland, Anne Smith of Broken Arrow, Okla.; Joanne Ard of Whitesboro and Jeanette Pettit of Mesquite; brothers, James Tyler of New Braunfels and Leonard Tyler of Sherman; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren Other family members include Marilyn Turner and Karen Claiborne of Odessa, Pam Turner of Belton and Bryan Claiborne of Florence, Texas, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren We love you George.
