December 10, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Daisie Elizabeth Buck, 78, of Odessa died Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998, at her residence. She was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Balmorhea. She married O.V. Buck Sept. 6, 1938, in Lovington, N.M., and they moved to Odessa from Baird in 1950. She had worked at the Model Shop for 16 years and was a Presbyterian. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.V. Buck, July 31, 1998; brothers, Ralph Robison and T.A. (Pood) Robison; and son, Wayne Buck. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Buck of Odessa; grandson, Mark Buck and his wife, Kathy, of Enumclaw, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Joshua Buck; and sister, Bumpie Johnson of Odessa. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with the Rev. Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. _________________________________________________________________ Dorothy Ora Black ODESSA -- Dorothy Ora Black was born on April 1, 1918, in Toler to Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Weeks. She transcended on Dec. 8, 1998, at her home with her loving family at her side. She married W. A. "Bill" Black, March 17, 1940, in Albany, Texas. They were married 58 years. Dorothy and Bill moved to Odessa in 1958 from Monahans. She worked for the first home health agency in Odessa, Upjohn. She retired from the county, working for the Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ladonia Kay, and both of her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, W.A. "Bill" Black of Odessa; daughter, Nelda Kay Hinojosa and her husband, Martin Hinojosa; grandchildren, Misty, Shamus and Lacey; great-grandchildren, Maiya, Curmus and Cannyan of Odessa; brother, Raymond Weeks of Haskell; sisters, Fern Whitworth and Blanche Ham of Stamford, Lota Grogan of Pecos, Lucille Stephens of Lubbock, Laveta Neal and Kate Hallmark of Dallas; and a host of nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Dale Stephens officiating. Eulogy will be given by Jimmy Pannell. Boverie LUBBOCK -- Services for John A. Boverie, 73, of Las Animas, Colo., will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, in Sanders Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Diggs, pastor of Westmoreland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. He died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, in Fort Lyons V.A. Hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Wellington. He moved to the Fort Lyons V.A. Hospital in 1996 from Lubbock. He married Helen Mathis Oct. 21, 1966, in Amarillo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He graduated from Wellington High School and attended Colorado A&M University. He was a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church and the Disabled American Veterans. He retired from Furr's Grocery Stores in 1980. Survivors include his wife of Odessa; three sons, Jack Boverie of Kennedale, John Boverie of Denver and Jules Boverie of Lubbock; two step-daughters, Linda Sullivan of Odessa and Sharron Koenig of Red River, Ohio. _________________________________________________________________ William Archer (Bud) Brown GARDENDALE -- William Archie Brown, 69, of Gardendale died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, at his residence. He was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Soccoro. He married Wilma Owen Aug. 26, 1955, in Fort Stockton. Graveside services will he held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Tamarisk Cemetery in Grandfalls with the Rev. Weldon Richardson officiating. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. Mr. Brown was a former resident of Grandfalls. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean conflict and was a retired mechanic. Archie was a loving husband and father and will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Jean Brown, of Gardendale; eight children, Teelee Vinson and husband, Larry, of Hawley, Tommy McCabe of Artesia, N.M., Kenneth Brown and wife, Patti, of Big Spring, Archie Brown and wife, Stacey, of Monahans, Johnny Paul Brown of Gardendale, Betty Jean Bivins and husband, Danny, of Gardendale, Polly Ruth Hunt and husband, James, of Childress and Margaret Lea Brown of Monahans; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Mary Ruth Hamilton, 95, died Monday, Dec. 7, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hamilton married O.B. Hamilton in 1924. He preceded her in death in 1983. Their son, Elwayne Hamilton, passed away in 1976. In 1937, the family moved to Odessa. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1937. She taught Sunday School in the Primary Department for 35 years, then was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class for 20 years. She was the oldest and longest living member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by three grandchildren, Michael Hamilton and his wife, Karen, of Midland, Joe Hamilton and his wife, LaDonna, of Odessa, and Cindy Roysden and her husband, Dan, of San Diego; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Marshall Plummer CRANE -- Marshall John "Mutt" Plummer, 85, of Crane passed away Monday, December 7, 1998, at Crane Memorial Hospital. His service was Wednesday, December 9, 1998, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Miracle officiating. He had a Masonic graveside service at Crane County Cemetery. All services were under the direction of Richard W. Box Funeral Home. He was born February 19, 1913, in Irdell. Mr. Plummer had lived in Crane for 53 years. He married Iva Lee Sanders August 2, 1941, in Bossier City, La. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Crane Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was employed by Gulf Oil Company in 1945 and retired in 1975. He also served in the Army in World War II. He is survived by his wife, Iva Lee Plummer, of Crane; daughter Marsha and son-in-law, Gene Griffin of Granbury; son Dan and daughter-in-law, Dedra Plummer, of Crane; brother, Foster Plummer of Stephenville; five grandchildren, Cobie Dan Plummer, Mikie Jalyn Harrison, Robert Schwartz and Michael Schwarz, all of Crane, and Chad Everett Griffin of Lafayette, La.; two great-grandchildren, Ashley Paige Harrison and Alyssa Nicole Harrison, both of Crane; and two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Teague; a brother, W.F. "Jiggs" Plummer; and a nephew, Earl Teague.
