December 13, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Memorial services for Andrew "Andy" Edward Fenton Jr., 45, of Odessa will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Mr. Fenton died Saturday, Dec. 12, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 26, 1953, in Wichita Falls. Mr. Fenton was a life-long resident of Odessa. He will be missed by his family and friends. His family is grateful to all the family, friends and staff at Deerings Care Center that contributed to his care and comfort these last few months. By the grace of God, his earthly pain has ended, and he is in the comforting arms of God. Survivors include his daughter, Julie Fenton of Odessa; mother, Ruth Elmore Shoemaker of Odessa; sister, Pamela Fenton Cooke of Odessa; nephew, Jason Lynn Jennings of Odessa; grand-nephews, Tanner Jennings and Dakota Jennings, both of Odessa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to your favorite charitable organization, since Andy donated his body to medical research. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ Helen Oglesby PECOS -- Services for Helen Oglesby, 98, of Pecos will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, at First Christian Church with the Rev. Bruce Abbott officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Oglesby died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at Pecos Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 29, 1900, in Wilcox, Ariz., and was a life-long resident of Pecos. She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church. Survivors include her son, William R. Oglesby of Pecos; grandchildren, Libby Oglesby Woods of Georgetown, William H. Oglesby of Pecos, Mary Oglesby Evans of Pecos and Mike J. Oglesby of Ozona; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Oglesby; a son, John K. Oglesby; and a grandchild, John K. Oglesby. Funeral arrangements are by Pecos Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Services for Tyler Lee Grissom, 5 months and 25 days, of Odessa will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at Babyland at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Tyler Lee Grissom died Friday, Dec. 11, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 16, 1998, in Odessa to Leslie and Brandi Grissom. "Forever Tyler" Our little tiny baby, to whom we say good-bye. On a day filled with sorrow, tears hard to dry. With you go our hopes, our love and our dreams, Of all life's beautiful things, we wanted you to see. You are truly our son, our son that was born. But from out loving arms, you were too early torn. Funeral arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- James Richard "J.R" Olive passed away peacefully at his home with loved ones. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. J.R. was born Nov. 8, 1928, to Goldie and Barney Olive in Hosston, La., where his father was a wildcatter. At the age of six weeks the family moved back to Texas and settled in their home in Hallsville. He went through school there and was a star on the high school football team, the sport he loved all his life. In 1945, he went into the Navy, where he served 10 years in both World War lI and Korea. J.R. married Dorothy Durall April 7, 1956, in Jefferson, moving to Odessa in November of 1956 and settled into raising a family. He was a diesel mechanic by trade, spending the last 10 years as service manager for Ryder Truck Rentals, before he was forced to retire in 1991 due to his bad heath. He fought valiantly through many tough illnesses for 11 years with Iittle complaint. He loved golf, traveling and the Dallas Cowboys, but most of all, his home and family. Bro. Paul Miller led J.R. to the Cross in his later years and he loved his church, Trinity Baptist, and all his friends there in. The family wishes to thank all for your concerns and prayers through the years. Especially Dr. Scott Sanford who helped keep him steaming full speed ahead for so long. He is survived by his wife: Dorothy; son Ben Durall and wife, Pamela, of Arlington; daughters, Judy Smith of Kaufman, Gail McCord and husband, Dale, of McAllen, Tammie Thomas of Odessa; grandsons, David DuraIl and wife, Kate, of Austin, Richard Lange of Odessa, J.R. and Jason McCord of McAllen, Richard Pease of CasterviIle, Michael and Chris Thomas of Odessa; granddaughter, Jami and Lance Wilkinson of Odessa; one precious great-grandson: Tyler Wilkinson; brother, B.R. and wife, Nellie, of Richardson; sister, Patricia and husband, Curtis Surratt, of Mabank. He was preceded in death by parents, brother, Gerald Olive, and son-in-law, Don Thomas. Pallbearers will be the eight grandsons. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or Family Hospice.
