December 14, 1998 Permian Basin Obituaries _________________________________________________________________ ODESSA -- Beatrice "Bea" Lasater was born Sept. 14, 1954, in Hearne to Manuel and Julia (Nevarez) Velasquez. She graduated from high school in Calvert then attended Blinn College and Liberty University. On July 5, 1975, she married Frank Lasater in College Station. They moved to Waco for six to eight months before moving to Midland in 1976. They stayed in Midland until 1990 when they moved to Odessa. Frank was the pastor at University Baptist Church while in Odessa. In the summer of 1998, they moved to Fort Worth, their current residence. Mrs. Lasater was a member of University Heights Baptist Church in Odessa, a former member of Kelview Heights Baptist Church in Midland, and an 18-year member of the Awana Program at Kelview Heights Baptist Church and University Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband Frank of Fort Worth; four daughters, Rebecca Lynn Lasater of Odessa, Amanda Brooke Lasater, Abby Kay Lasater and Stacey Layne Lasater, all of Fort Worth; three brothers, Raymond Velasquez of Houston, John Velasquez of San Antonio and Wiley Velasquez of Calvert; six sisters, Vicki Griffin of Corsicana, Nellie Sparkman of Bryan, Julie Cockcroft of Alta Loma, Calif., Frances Castillo of Bryan, Mary Boggan and Josephine Florida, both of Hearne; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lasater died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, near Weatherford. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, in Kelview Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Frank Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Roger M. Lasater, Aaron Sparkman, Raymond Velasquez Jr., Brian Boggan, Sam Boggan, T.J. Griffin, John Florida IV and Matthew Florida.
